End of school

Each year for some years now pupils of the secondary school dance a quadrille in the city center of Ljubljana. This dance is written in the Guinness book of records and each year the record is broken - more and more pupils take part in it.
I try to go and watch it because it is such a magical moment. If those young people would wear their graduation dresses, it would be perfect. But this is reserved for their graduation day.

Today exactly at noon I was there, on the main street through Ljubljana. There were thousands of them - boys in black tees and girls in orange ones. It was a beautiful sight and tears came into my eyes. It is a happy moment for most of them and I know it would be for me if I was there. I remembered my days in the secondary school and those at the University. I wish I could turn back the clock and enjoy those careless moments of youth again. There were few but they stayed in my memory for good.

Happy weekend, everyone, I will be away counting the birds again...

That's sweet. I didn't enjoy my last two years of high school, I don't have fond memories, I didn't fit in enough. I'm off to bed while you're at work - strange isn't it.

I know what you mean. I also didn't fit in enough, I was always a bit different. I was too curious, I wanted to know more than was offered.
Today young pupils and students have so many more chances than we had them. Lucky them!

Yes, it is strange - I am here behind the screen and you are asleep. And somebody in the USA is having breakfast right now. I love blogland! :)

This does look wonderful. I would have loved to have seen it for myself. Those moments are certainly precious.
