A legend
Once upon a time lived Zlatorog (Goldhorn), in remote valleys of Trenta and Bohinj in the Julian Alps, the secret white chamois (steinbock) with golden horns. He lived high in the mountains in the wonderful mountaintop gardens and together with three white women guarded a secret treasure. One day a hunter came to steal the treasure. He stalked Zlatorog and a day came when he shot this beautiful animal. Though, he forgot about the secret power of the white women! From the drops of blood that ran from Zlatorog's wounds a beautiful flower grew out of the soil, named triglavska roža/Triglav's flower. The flower had given Zlatorog his life back and he pushed greedy hunter over the cliff, destroyed his beautiful gardens and vanished from the mountains. The myth of Zlatorog was put into verses by Rudolf Baumbach and published in 1877, becoming his most popular work. Of course, this is not the only version of the myth.
