Sprouting seeds

When I was still a child living with my parents, we had dinner every day around four o'clock. Unless my lessons were in the afternoon, when I had my lunch at my grandmom's, which was every second week. My mom usually cooked what my dad liked, so this meant no soup, no poultry, while pasta and rice were rarely on the menu. She didn’t eat fish, so we never, really never had fish. We had potatoes in every possible way and lots of pork meat. Of course, there was salad next to that, lots of time it was the radish which I never ate because I never liked bitter food (I still don’t). Mom used to put lots of garlic in every salad, but I didn’t eat that as well when I was a child. I still don’t understand why she couldn’t give me salad with no garlic because I would have eaten it with no problem at all. Consequence of all that? Of course – bad blood count.

I’ve been eating lots of wheat and vegetables since I am living on my own, though still not enough. I love milk and diary products although I am sure that quantities which I consume are not healthy anymore. It is hard to resist having a cup of wheat coffee with no milk, as hard as not eating anything sweet each day.

Since I live in my own house, I've been growing vegetables in the garden but a bad gardener as I am, I don’t grow enough “winter” ones. Sometimes I have pumpkins, or Brussels sprouts or something similar but rarely do I eat salad during winter months (mostly because of all those “additives” that can be found in salads sold in the supermarkets). I do eat lamb's lettuce, it has always been one of my favorites but when snow lies on the ground, it is not so easy to get to it. During such days with no fresh vegetables, I sometimes eat sprouts. I keep them in a glass, “washing” them twice a day. Until recently I’ve grown only alfa-alfa seeds, but the other day I bought some other kind of seeds as well. Broccoli sprouts smell terribly but they are very good for health. I will see what comes out of the rest of them. I like their crunchiness and their sharp taste. I season them with some herbal salt and sprinkle them with pumpkin oil.

Today I have wakened into a beautiful and cold morning (-9 degrees C showed the thermometer in my car). There is about 5 cm snow lying on the ground. This means that I will have fresh sprouts again for my dinner today.

Have a wonderful day!

Bad blood count? I wonder what that means and how it affects you - low energy, or some other symptoms?
