It is not so easy to take good photos in the bad light with my camera, so my green week photos are a bit dark and murky. They don't have the color of the sun but rather of the rain and the clouds that have been covering the sky for the last few days. For me this week was not only the green week but also the food week. So, let me finish my green week with the thoughts about spices.

I use lots of spices at cooking. Last week I read that the risotto I've been making for over ten years was called
Risotto Milanese. Well, my risotto is made with brown rice not white. Brown rice needs about 40 minutes to be cooked. I only use white one when I am very hungry or in a hurry. I also don't stir it all that time, I just leave it to simmer slowly until cooked. Risotto Milanese has a special place in my memories; it was the first dish that was cooked for me by B.
I like combining spices. From Jamaica I brought a habit of putting some pimento into rice when I make it with beans or other legumes. I usually spice the spinach with ground mustard seeds and nutmeg but if some other spice seems to have the right smell, I put it on the spinach too.
I use fresh herbs when they grow in my garden and dry some for the winter usage. This year there will be something new growing in my harden. Hyssop. I just wonder what this herb will go with. Probably always with a different dish.
Happy weekend to all of you!

Risotto is one of the meals that my husband makes really well. We just had Risotto Milanese last week!
Lovely photo of the snowdrops on your masthead.
Ožepek?! Jaz ga bašem v razne skutine namaze, pa v testo za slane palačinke gre tudi krasno. In čaj lahko kuhaš iz njega. Fajn ga je imeti na vrtu, ker odganja škodljivce.
