Percossa

I saw an ad for yesterday's concert on a billboard while driving home. I like drums, not playing but listening to them. I mentioned this to Ž and he said he would go along. Great! So we went. I was a bit surprised because I expected different kind of a concert. I preferred the second part of it when lots of drums were played. And there was, as it is written on their web site, an unstoppable roller-coaster of hard hits. Amazing performance especially if you consider how much energy these four men had to put into it.

Beauty & fun

This morning we've been singing in the office. The same song over and over again. My favorite at the moment. Tiste lepe dni by Neisha. Those beautiful days... How do we yearn for some things that are gone forever...

I think it was about ten years ago when a colleague asked me and B to attend a TV quiz (Newlyweds). We did and we won (a trip to Jamaica, btw). Before stepping in front of the cameras I was completely changed by a make-up stylist (or however these people are called). When B saw me, he didn't like me at all. He even didn't want to kiss me, he was so much rejected by the smell of the cosmetics. My mom thought I looked great. Though, that wasn't me. I have never used any cosmetics since then. Though, the other day I thought of using it again. So, this ended in my shopping cart yesterday: Just in case. Usually I need such things for the Carnival.

Speaking of beauty, I thought also of an event that happened two weeks ago. I thought of sharing this with you last Monday, but you know what happened then... So, to make the long story short, that Friday I was invited to join our wolf-howling group in the evening. And I did, together with Ž. The meeting was in a lovely place, actually a local club, full of medieval armor and paintings. In the back room there were billiard and football tables and in the garage was a place for archery, full of bows and arrows. We baked chestnuts, drank wine and elderberry syrup. And we talked about wolves, of course. And about Native Americans, bows, armor, books, nature... I was so happy to be among people who liked the same things as me.

All the time Resian folk music was playing. At some point I thought of trying to play billiard (the second time in my life!), so others slowly joined me in the back room, and showed me how to play it properly. Later I danced around the rooms, checking the armor and paintings on the walls. Resian folk music is funny, but I doubt I could listen to it all day long. So, one of the guys thought of teaching me the basic steps of the Resian dance. It was great fun! When we were leaving, I said: "I haven't had such great time in a long time!" And that guy who taught me how to dance answered: "What kind of life do you have then?"

Karma for today: Be good-natured.

Music, my music

Some time ago one of you asked me: "What kind of music do you listen to?"

Well, I have already told you that I don't listen to jazz. No matter how hard I try, I don't like it. I probably never will. When I was in my twenties, my favorites were The Cure and The Pixies. At that time I listened also to The Psychedelic Furs, and I was at the concert of such unknown group (in Slovenia) as it is Alice Donut. Coming back from my travels around Europe in 1994, 10000 maniacs were playing on my CD player day and night.

When May is rushing over you
with desire to be part of the miracles
you see in every hour.
You'll know it's true
that you are blessed and lucky.
It's true that you are touched by something
that will grow and bloom in you.

I experienced a miracle, and I felt blessed and lucky as never before and never after.

In my teens I listened to A-ha, Depeche Mode and Pet Shop Boys. I grew up with Abba, The Beatles and Kenny Rogers. I love(d) country music (American, not Slovenian). I have never been fond of Slovenian music, although I am starting to like it. I like 42 by Tabu, and Vsak je sam by Alenka Godec. And guess what, lately I have been singing along with this one (Čebelar), too... It seems that I am really getting old. Or with other words - different people, different times.

If I switch on my radio, I love to hear Foot of the Mountain by A-ha, If a song could get me you by Marit Larsen, songs by Keane. The other day at the party there was (hard) rock music that I have never heard before, but just loved it.

I have always liked classical music; my favorite is Canon by Pachelbel. And Bach. Air. And many others. I have kind of neglected this kind of music lately.

No doubt that you probably already know: I LOVE the soundtrack of Dances with wolves. My favorite music of all times. I would love to hear it alive once.

More than enough for this time, right? And although I don't like jazz, I like Africa by Perpetuum Jazzile. Take time to listen to it, you won't be sorry.

P.s.: I hope that all those links work...

Karma for today: Give second chances.

2003 = 2009?

It is so weird because 2009 is almost a twin year of 2003 for me. Events keep happening that happened also then. April was a disaster, I hardly survived the spring months. I lost lots of weight then as well, and that year I went to the Simply Red concert. I was very disappointed, that's why I won't be there this year. This evening.
I am not a big fan of music, I could easily cope without it for quite some time. Though I do sing every day to myself. My favorite music is still that one from the soundtrack of the Dances with Wolves movie. Well, also the movie is one of my favorite ones, I am sure that you've guessed that by yourselves already.

So, I do wonder if this year will have any more surprising similarities with 2003 for me. I split up with B then. I started a new job. I met Ž. It is just that I spent more time on my mountain bike that year than I do now. Though, I didn't know then that it was so beautiful in the mountains... ;)

It is a national holiday tomorrow and I will take Friday off from work, so I will be back behind the screen on Monday. Hopefully with more happy news. Thank you all for thinking of me and for all good wishes.

Be well.
