Birds in cages

They are bred for their color and beautiful singing. Jumping from one side of the cage to the other, I got a feeling they want to escape. Too many birds are hunted illegally every day. People want to keep more colorful birds at home, birds that sing nicer. It is interesting that most of the breeders are men. Like hunters, fishermen and, yes, ornithologists...

Danes sem prejela čudovit koledar s pticami (bom objavila).

I feel very strongly against keeping any animal in a cage. And it is especially heartbreaking to see birds caged like this. What torture it must be to their spirit, not being able to fly freely as they were meant to. Keeping animals in cages is selfish and thoughtless on the part of humans...And you are right to point out about men: a hunter will claim that he admires deer, but he kills them - How does that make sense? It seems to me that people cannot hunt or fish unless they are lacking in sensitivity and empathy...Men!...some men, not all. (Not to mention, who starts all wars and fights them...)

I have very mixed feelings about birds being kept in cages. I had a canary as a child but even then it didn't seem quite right to me.
