The Art of Love

If you haven’t come across an Ovid’s book The Art of Love then I suggest that you take it into your hands or read it on the internet, and have a good laugh while reading it. You might also find some good advice in it and some lines might make you think about love and life and also other things.
My thought after reading it: the world has not changed much in 2000 years.

The translation of the words in the picture:

Be mindful first that old age will come to you:
so don’t be timid and waste any of your time.

Have fun while it’s allowed, while your years are in their prime:
the years go by like flowing waters:

The wave that’s past can’t be recalled again,
the hour that’s past never can return.

Life’s to be used: life slips by on swift feet,
what was good at first, nothing as good will follow.

Among young people

This weekend was surprisingly pleasant. I expected little from the planned events, but eventually everything else that was not planned and came along, was good. I was with a group of youngsters that we meet from time to time to do good things for birds, and people. By coincidence mother of one of them was present and she taught me how to braid a wreath from straw. It is easy, and I enjoyed myself braiding my first straw wrath... Later in the evening I met another group of youngsters, and we ended up in a local club. We played billiard again, and it was great fun. This time I managed to hit more balls than the last time I had played it. I thought about the events later in bed and I found out that I like to play different sorts of games, and just hanging in a pub for nothing (i.e. getting drunk) is not something that I like.

Sunday was sunny and somehow warm. Ž and I went for a walk and I even took some photos of the plains near Ž's home, although the scenery was kind of boring and dull. Winter is on its way for sure, temperature this morning was -5 degrees C. Time for coziness, friends and family. Shopping can wait; we have agreed on small gifts this year, anyway.

So, there are less than 14 days until Christmas; I hope that life will be better than on most days this year. One of those years that I would rather delete from my life if I could.

Karma for today: Savor the fleeting delights of the day.

Ornithological camp

Sixteen young people and six a little bit older guys and girls spent five days together in a beautiful part of Slovenia. Unfortunately I was preparing the next issue of our magazine, but I had great time with all of them anyway. I wish to join such camp again, hopefully next year. Though, I was the oldest... I can't publish any photos with portraits because most of them were in their teens, but here are some of the landscape and the "food" that we gathered on our shared trips. Who's there? Youngsters eating wild cherries. :)I found these on one of my walks around the village Grad (the white mulberries): It was planned that we would live here during the camp, but the renovations had not been finished by the time we arrived there (the castle supposedly has 365 rooms, one for each day in a year):I wish to return one day, but not alone. In a few words, this is what I experienced: beautiful countryside, quietness, slow life, youth. And fresh air. :)

I am going on a short break tomorrow and I will be back again in a week before my birthday. I am sure that you know where to find me if the weather is fine. It is time for mountains, of course! :)

Let's dance

It was raining, but they were dancing, like they do each year. Youth. Some keep it in their hearts forever, some get old in their mind too quickly.Karma for today: Love your age.

Beaten by life

When life hit me for the first time, I said: »It happens.« When it came upon me for the second time, I asked: »Why?« The third blow came from a different corner, quite unsuspected. I said: »This is a result of my previous actions, of my previous life, this is what I brought upon myself by being who I was.« I was struggling hard to survive the pain that blow had brought with it. Then life suddenly seemed to be getting back on tracks; and then came one more slap, directly into my face. I screamed: »What have I done to deserve this?«

All this happened in less than two years. I stand here, waiting for more blows to come. I fear the future, but I know that I would regret it for the rest of my life if I hadn't at least tried to do what I did, and what I am still going to do. Though I think that in one year's time luck will knock on my door and I am sure that by the next autumn things will find their place in my life. And all will be good again. I am looking forward to 2010, because last two years have been the worst years of my whole life.

When I was a little girl, my dad often spanked me because I was stubborn. I tell you, never spank or beat a child for being stubborn, because it doesn't help. What I really needed was comfort and love, and exactly this I kept searching for my whole life. Instead of being a fully grown up person at twenty, I was still a little girl, searching for love, most of the time at a wrong place. And I was still stubborn. Spanking didn't help, what changed me were all those blows by life that I was writing about at the beginning of this post. I became humble, quiet and friendly. I try to do good things in life, avoiding my own ego to come out. I say yes when I feel that I would rather sit in an armchair reading a book; and I go out instead of staying at home. I think before I say something bad in anger because I know that eventually truth will find its way. It is still a long way to go, but I really think that I don't deserve such blows again. I ask for mercy.

So, that's why there has been no word from me for such a long time. I was resting at home, wishing I could clean up the house, plant the flowers, go out, or at least surf the Internet. I haven't taken any photos all this time, but nevertheless, I think that you can await some nice and happy posts in the future. Right here. Because life is still beautiful, as well as is this day. Though, I admit, I haven't got any vital spirits left.

But, I am still a little stubborn, don't you think so? :)
